Subway discriminating Against Celiacs
Subway is a heartless company when it comes to consumers with disabilities. After finding out I had celiac 6 years ago, I had to quickly make changes in my life, making going out to eat like a " typical " college student very difficult.
Because i could no longer eat the traditional subway sandwich i began bringing my bread to local subways to have them make me a sandwich on it so i could once again enjoy the product i had had for years. In the beginning this worked fine I would bring my bread in, have a sandwich made and it was quite enjoyable, since subway doesn't offer their own gluten free bread. One day when I went in I was publicly humiliated by one of their employees who made fun of my condition and told me that they refuse to make the sandwich for me.He publicly berated me in front of everyone in the restaurant and laughed at me my conditions. After leaving subway in tears after 20 minutes of public humiliation my family and i made a phone call to corporate to discuss the discrimination that had just occured The woman on the phone from corporate assured us this was not the image subway stood for and promised it would never happen again. She promised my family and I that it would be just fine for us to bring our bread in and have a simple sandwich made that i could safely eat.
We were very appreciative. A few weeks later i returned to subway after calming down from my previous humiliation and decided to give them another chance. I was confronted by the fact that corporate had made a new rule against any celiac disease or wheat allergy customer bringing in their own bread after my phone call. I quickly called back they lady from corporate who had made me the promise of no future humiliation from their company.
She responded by saying she had simply " changed her mind" and that me bringing in my own bread might "contaminate" their food. I was told that if i would like to come to their restaurant i could get my sandwich slopped on a piece of paper and I would have to deal with it myself. This is outrageous discriminates against people with disabilities and should never be allowed. The bread i was bringing in was in a package i bought from the grocery store, and posed no threat to their establishment.
Living with celiac disease and maintaining a wheat free diet is hard enough in its self in a country that puts flour in most of its food and people with celiac do not deserve this treatment from subway.
I am deeply hurt and disappointed in their decision to do this, over making a simple sandwich on a gluten free piece of bread for a loyal customer. What they have done is wrong and it needs to be stopped.

How does not being able to eat gluten make you a โperson with a disabilityโ? I myself canโt eat gluten due to an auto immune disease and I absolutely DO NOT consider myself to be โdisabledโ.
This is disgusting. Do you just WANT to be disabled? For the attention?
I googled could you bring your own bread to subway on a whim; I assumed I could not. Idiots like you ruin everything for the rest of us!!
You're so self entitled. Grow up and make the sandwich at home horseless you dumb ***.
Cross Contamination ma'm; We would have no idea where your bread came from, and we cannot rely on your word; you could potentially contaminate the food. The employee is in the wrong for making fun of your disease, and could have handled the situation a different way.
Yeah, but in both ways they're protecting their own butts, because people like you would probably sue them.. it would be like someone saying they are DEADLY allergic to nuts, but wanting to purchase a cookie from a case that has had cookies that contain nuts in it..
the store would have to turn them away for fear of making them sick. at the same time, if there's something in the bread that you bring with you.. no one knows for sure where you got it..
and it had something they dont know about, it could be bad for other customers.. im assuming you also want it discounted because you have to bring in your own bread?
