I went to Subway today to buy and sandwich but when I got there noticed that that they had a very fresh good looking chopped chicken salad. They didn't list the ingredients but the picture had fresh leafy lettuce, diced tomatoes, cucumber and freshly chopped, nicely cooked chicken.

So I ordered that. The worker went into to the back to get what I assumed was a pre-made salad. However, instead he brought out a bowl and asked me what I wanted on it. I was a little surprised because I had assumed that the salad would be made with good fresh ingredients.

But before I could say anything, the guy began throwing in the toppings used for their sandwiches. He not only put in the thin lettuce slivers instead of fresh lettuce leaves, he also threw ingredients I didn't ask for or want. The most infuriating one was that he pickles into my salad. No offense to those who like it but, salad does NOT go with pickles.

Last of all he took two chicken breast used in chicken sandwiches and threw them in. So I stand there absolutely bewildered by what's going on and brings out a weird thing with a curved handle and two blades. Then he takes it and attacks my salad with it. So by the time he's done I'm pretty upset but I pay and leave.

I sit down with my salad and open up the box and am a little surprised that doesn't look horribly disgusting. That is until I start poking at it. Everything has been sliced down to the point that it's all just mush. The chicken was actually mistakable for Parmesan cheese.

I'm seriously pissed but I take a *** anyway. *** The whole salad tasted like pickle juice. The chicken was so mushy it didn't taste like chicken and it was my brother who can eat just about anything couldn't eat this. It was NASTY.

This salad was the BIGGEST scam ever. Believe me, it was nothing like the picture. I mean it was sandwich toppings! And the most annoying thing is that this sad, ripoff salad cost seven twenty five.

I wouldn't buy that for two dollars! I am extremely disappointed.

Monetary Loss: $7.

As a former employee, I can tell you that I have had people complain about this a lot. But never did anybody complain if they ASKED us what the deal was with the salads.

However, I must say that If they chopped the lettuce, that isnโ€™t how itโ€™s supposed to be made. Also, the meats are to be cut into half two times, then those halves into half..

This is also done BEFORE adding any veggies. Just so everybody is clear from here on out, YOU chose what veggies go into the salad unless you state otherwise.

I agree with Rose. To add to that, I also would have to say this is dumb on your part to not even ask them about how they make them, or what they use in them; You made an assumption, it sounds like. Doesnโ€™t sound like a Subway issue to me, just an ignorant customer.

Guest

Why would you expect them to have special veggies for the salads? That's dumb.

Guest

Did you really expect something else from Subway? Just wondering why you would eat fast food in the first place.

It is the worst of the worst. There are so many other places to eat.

If we continue giving these horrible places business they will continue to be in business. It is up to the public to demand better quality food by not shopping in these horrible places.

I had a similar experience, although my ingredients weren't chopped to a mushy pulp. However, yes, the lettuce and ingredients are the same things that go into/on sandwiches and yet Subway gets away with charging about half-again as much for this product - and no roll, obviously. My salad left my stomach and wallet empty.

A great description of my disappointment with their version of a "salad".

Guest

I have salads at Subway occasionally, and they will make them the way you want them. Tell them what you want.

If I tell them to only chop certain ingredients, they do.

If I say stop chopping, they do. Stop whining, snowflake.

And my experience last night at a Subway (pre-ordered with mobile app) was just the opposite. I get home and my salad was NOT chopped and I was disappointed!

At Subway they have a chopped salad and a non chopped salad. If you say chopped they chop it to your desired level.

you can ask for just the toppings like the tomato and cucumbers to be chopped or the whole thing. you can literally get it done any way you like, but you have to say what you want no service person is a mind reader. if you give no input we are forced to do what we think is best. chicken chopped salad Is say Lett, Tom, Cuc, yes Pick, Green Pep, Onion and shred cheese.

If you don't like it say anything and Id remake it. I believe in customer service.

But if you say Chicken Chopped Salad with no further instruction youre going to get what I would put on it. Mind you I would ask what wuld you like two of three times before that happened.

I had one of those to and mine was just like that. It tasted like there sandwich and not a salad at all.

Guest

This can be avoided by not asking for pickles next time. There should be no surprise they use the ingredients from the line for their salad, there is no secret vault of salad lettuce.

You got two chicken breast? Lucky - you were only supposed to get one. 6 inch to salad, not 12 inch.

Any items in the salad, the soggy mush or whatever, the pickle taste, all brought upon yourself.

How hard is it to ask him to leave things out? You drenched it in a oil or vinegar, which likely caused the mushy texture.

The only outrage about the chopped salad is it costs an extra 2 dollars for NO reason.

This was the funniest thing I ever read in my life!! You should have saved that money and bought you a new pair of panties!

Guest

It's a salad with chicken, how disgusting can that be? Next time speak up and tell them what you want instead of complaining about it, you sound really whiney. BTW, I get their salads all the time, because they're convenient, filling and relatively healthy.

Guest

Im sorry you had a bad experience. I go to Subway all the time just for the chopped salad.

I love them. They shouldnt be chopped down too much like you say yours was and they are only suppose to put what you want on them.

Guest

Well, instead of not saying anything you should have said something! I order the salad quite often (turkey, their new chicken or tuna - their chicken fillet is reformed, no thanks)- always ask for extra spinach (I think iceberg lettuce is an unnecessary, cheap filling, it has barely any nutrients), and then keep saying more until it's at least 3 handfuls, extra tomatoes (at least 2 handfuls), cucumber, green peppers, extra onion (at least 2 handfuls) and jalapenos.

Then just vinegar as dressing. No croutons or dressing packets - it's just empty fat and calories.

You can order as much veggies as you like, that's the best part of Subway, so I tend to go a little crazy on that. For $6 I have an enormous salad (2 servings) that somewhere else I would have to pay at least twice that!

Guest

I had similar exp as original post, chicken did not taste like chicken. Something was wrong with the chicken I think it was like chicken nuggets coated with egg.

Chicken salad at other fast food places tastes much better. I will never try this again.

Guest

I eat these salads salads when I travel. They are always delicious.

the workers always ask me what I would like and yes, they do use the sandwich ingredients, which makes perfect sense. Tell them you do not want it chopped to much and they willingly comply.

Sounds like you are a "prima donna". Get over it!!

Guest

The salads are great. EAD.

Guest

Never had a problem with the chicken chopped salad! Instead of just standing there, open your mouth.

Never have I heard of a worker adding unwanted toppings!

Your "story" was a good laugh for the day! Thanks!

Guest

I think the chopped salads looks disgusting from a presentation standpoint. It makes the tomatoes mushy and bruises spinach.

I worked at subway 8 years and news flash, the ingredientshave always been the same for salads and sandwiches. I feel that's a little ridiculous on the reviewer's part .Maybe they've never been to subway before.

I make them make it the old way, the way that's the right way to me. I don't want my spinach looking black and oozing and my tomatoes running all over looking like some kind of nasty soup
